02/10/2019 - College PREP - Monticello, IA Brock is a hardworking 1B/LHP prospect who has an athletic build. As a left-handed hitter, Brock has a tall, open setup with his weight in the back of his stance. He has a short, square stride and maintains a quiet head. Brock has a long, upward swing path. He has good balance in his swing. Brock is a contact type hitter who has a middle of the field approach. In the field, Brock plays with effective footwork and good body control. He fields the ball in an athletic, square position with soft hands. Brock has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a quick release. Brock shows consistently accurate throws. On the mound, Brock works with good tempo and repeats his delivery. He has on-time mechanics throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. Brock lands closed to home plate and can benefit from a longer stride. He has an effective front side and he finishes with an upright chest. Brock commands his fastball with sink movement. He also features a curveball and changeup. Overall, Brock has a versatile skill set and potential to get better with development.

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Brock continues to shine on the diamond. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He works to square ball up and makes the routine plays. He displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 63-64 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

02/11/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Monticello, IA Brock is a young, strong, 2-way player who plays 1B and pitcher. Defensively, Brock has playable hands and feet, and he moves well around the bag. He keeps the ball in front of his body, and throws with a good arm action with some accuracy to his target. On the mound, Brock works at a good pace, he repeats his delivery, and has a controlled landing toward home. At the plate, Brock has a square set up, a proper load, and a good bat path. He has fast bat speed, makes hard contact, and uses his lower body well. Brock can further improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
