01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Brock is an extremely athletic kid, great body and tireless worker. Speed continues to be a strength of his and the 6.7 60 time plays. Has well above average arm strength with accuracy. Good spin and carry to target. At the plate he does not get cheated, great bat speed and life in hands. Has some pop to all fields and will use all field. Brock is also a great kid, we have seen him several times and each time he gets better.

08/09/2011 - College PREP - Bear (Wilmington), DE Brock showed defensive improvements in his game during his workout in Bear, DE. He is quick to the ball, his feet are active, and he stays behind the ball well. He centers it on his chest, his exchange is quick and clean, and he has a good crow hop toward his target. Brock has a quick arm action, and he throws with accuracy and carry to his target. Offensively, Brock has average bat speed and a short swing path. He has front balance, a short stride, and he shows good barrel accuracy. If Brock can improve his weight transfer, and throw his hands more directly to the ball, we could see a spike in offensive numbers.

01/15/2011 - Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Commuter) Long continues to show improvements and adjustments at the plate. He displays an athletic stance and solid setup. He loads well but needs to work on not letting hips drift forward before hands begin their path. Barrel accuracy is a plus with power numbers improving as he learns to transfer weight properly. Brock has a lot of potential and good feel for his swing as he is coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

12/18/2010 - Christmas Camp and Tournament 2010 - Session 1 Brock is a young, thin, 2B/OF with skills that are still developing. Defensively, Brock takes good angles to the ball and he makes the routine plays. He gets a good jump off the bat, has a decent exchange, and he throws with accuracy across the diamond. INF skills can improve by fielding the ball further out in front of his body, quickening his exchange, and adding arm strength. At the plate, Brock has quick hands, a short stride, and he makes contact. He has a patient approach, he knows the strike zone, and he puts the ball in play. Abilities at the plate can get better if Brock can shorten his swing, avoid reaching, and add bat speed.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
