Official Scouting Report

  • SS/2BPosition Projection

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Brock is an athletic 2019 SS/3B prospect. At SS, Brock has active pre pitch movement and works from the ground up. He gets into a strong throwing position and makes accurate throws around the field. Fielding the ball in front of his body, and funnel the ball will allow him to have a clean exchange. Learning the pace of the play and anticipating what to do with the ball before its hit will elevate his game to the next level. At the plate, Brock starts in an athletic stance, and uses the lower half. He has quick hands and gets extension through contact. Continuing to load his hands into the drive position and attacking the inside part of the ball will allow him to drive the ball to all fields. Brock is a hard worker and will continue to improve with experience. He will continue to excel with repetition and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/18/2017 - College PREP - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Brock is a lean SS who will graduate in 2019. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.33. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. At SS, he displays clean / athletic actions. Feet are active but needs to attack balls and play through balls with his body. Hands are clean and he presents well out front. Range is a plus as he utilizes his quick feet well in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Brock has potential with a lot of room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
