08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Brodie continues to shine on the diamond. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a wide crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off when centered. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 65-68 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Brodie is a lean, strong 2020 two-way player who is slightly more advanced as a pitcher. He has done a great job improving his arm action and delivery on the mound as he shows a clean arm stroke and a repeatable delivery. His front side works well to pull his arm down and through to create a downward angle to the hitter. He picks up his target early and works effectively down in the zone to get lots of ground balls. His fastball sits in the low 70s with a 12-6 curveball and a changeup with a good velocity difference. At the dish, he has a strong base and gets good separation in his load to launch through the zone. He shows smooth rhythm and gets on time with his stride to make contact to all fields. Staying through the ball at contact will result in more hard hit balls. In the field, he moves well laterally with athleticism and efficient feet. He fields square with hands out front to make all the plays cleanly. Brodie is a prospect we definitely want to follow as he continues to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
