01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Mayberry is a hard worker who has a solid/projectable frame (6'2"/205). Behind the dish, he sits in well presenting a low/soft target as he tracks pitches in well. He works hard laterally to body-up/center pitches in the dirt off of his chest as he creates a good angle to keep the ball in front. Transfer is clean with accuracy on his throws down to 2B - pop times now at 2.27. At the plate, Brodie displays a balanced/quiet setup with patience waiting for a pitch he likes. Swing is on-plane with the pitch as he engages his lower 1/2 and hits the ball where it's pitched, spraying it to all parts of the field. Mayberry has a ton of upside and will only continue to improve over the next couple of years.

03/01/2020 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Brodie continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.30 runner. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying solid hitting/power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a shorts direct swing path, creating extension. He has strength (84 mph exit velocity) in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer/exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.40 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process but will benefit by working to get body down sooner. Brodie has a bright future in this game and we look forward to seeing what the future holds.

09/15/2019 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Brodie is a strong C/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Brodie shows efficient footwork and centers the ball when blocking. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with a firm glove. He makes a quick exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them on-line with carry through the 2B bag. Sitting in a lower stance can help Brodie improve as a C. In the OF, Brodie shows efficient footwork and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. Brodie can improve as an OF by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance with center balance. He hits against a strong front side and sprays the ball to all fields. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Brodie improve as a hitter. With four more years to develop, Brodie has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

03/04/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Indianapolis, IN Brodie is a young, 2-way player with a strong lower half. Behind the plate, Brodie sits-in athletically, he has efficient footwork, and firm hands. He has a good idea, a quick/clean exchange, and throws with consistency to 2nd base from a short arm action. At 3B, Brodie has playable hands and feet, he gains ground toward his target, and has an accurate arm to his target. Offensively, Brodie has a tall set-up, he loads properly, and stands in well balanced. He has a direct barrel to the ball, has some bat speed, and uses his lower body. Brodie can improve overall skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
