07/10/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National East Brody has a solid showing at the event with a promising future behind the plate. Behind the dish, pop times showed in the low 2.00 range. Arm strength is outstanding as indicated by his top velocity of 90 mph at the arm strength station with throws displaying life, accuracy, and on line carry. He will control the running game with plus arm. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play at the next level. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. A strong swinging backstop - Brody will garner some attention with his tools on the diamond.

01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Brody is a strong, athletic catcher with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.32 60 time. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 1.95-2.12 with life and on line carry through his target. He will control the running game with his feet / arm. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with tremendous power potential through an athletic setup. He gets to a strong launch position and shows quick hands that generate bat speed to and through contact, creating extension. Barrel accuracy is a plus with strength in his swing as the baseball explodes off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap pop. At the event, he was 4 for 7. Brody has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
