11/05/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Brooks is a big, tall LHP/1B that will graduate in 2017. At the plate is where he shows best through a soft, athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. He shows a feel for the barrel, flashing gap to gap pop. Power numbers will improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a big, quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure as he makes the routine plays. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to attack balls more, play through, while presenting hands more out front and increase foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 72-73 mph. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength, works to throw more strikes, and develops off speed pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker, is very coachable, and has great attitude. With 2 years to further develop, Brooks has abilities with time and room to improve.
