01/12/2024 - 2024 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Brooks is a 2025 C who showcased his talents at the BF Pre-Season All-America Tournament. Behind the plate, he starts in an athletic position and has good range. With runners on, he does a great job staying in his legs and has a quick exchange. He had accurate throws working to the first base side of the bag. His best pop time of the event was 2.26 seconds. When blocking, he has effective footwork and a good chin tuck. He was able to center his body over the plate well. Brooks is very quick to his feet and shows great athleticism on balls in dirt. He threw out several runners in game. At the plate, the left-handed hitter has a square stance and loose hands. He has an activated load and good balance. He has fast bat speed and made consistent contact. In game, he picked up several hits and proved to be a tough out for pitchers. We foresee that Brooks will continue to catch the eyes of scouts in the next few years.

08/20/2023 - National Showcase - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Brooks continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate he shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with soft glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.25 with accuracy / carry (82 mph velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

11/13/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Germantown (Memphis), TN Brooks showed solid skills behind the plate and at SS during his last workout. Brooks sits in quietly behind the plate, feet are active, and he fields squarely. He has firm hands, a quick/clean exchange, and throws with consistency and strength to his target. At SS, Brooks has efficient footwork, solid range, and he fields squarely. He makes plays, moves through the ball, and throws with a quick arm action to his target. Offensively, Brooks has an open stance, solid bat speed, and he makes consistent contact. He works the ball well to the opposite field and taps into his lower body.

12/27/2020 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Brooks is an athletic catcher who will graduate in 2025. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times show a range of 2.66-2.76 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he continues to build more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, plays hard, and is very coachable. With 5 years to further develop, Brooks has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
