10/28/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures West Brooks is a talented young prospect with a sought after profile - a switch-hitting middle infielder. At SS, Brooks shows a quiet confidence and smooth, natural actions. He takes good angles and has quiet hands that are sure and soft. His exchange and release are very quick and efficient, combining with a good internal clock to make all the in-game plays look routine. At the plate, Brooks has a similar stroke from both sides of the plate. He has a slight weight-shift move to hit with good intent in his swing. His move through contact is coordinated and leads to hard line drive contact. He went 1-3 in the game after a solid batting practice both left and right-handed. With a high baseball IQ and tools that play up in the game, Brooks is a player to continue to follow closely.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
