05/28/2019 - 2019 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Brooks continues to show as a top prospect on the dia-mond with improvements in his baseball abilities. On the bump, he had a solid showing at the event. He attacks hit-ters, throwing a lot of strikes as he works to get ahead of hitters through a quick tempo. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 92 mph. Fastball showed a range of 89-92 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. In the MIF, he shows active prep with fluid actions. He works around the GB and through it as he gains ground toward his target. Footwork around the bag is solid and he is a quality receiver. Exchange is clean with strong throws. Backhand is smooth with a quick release. At the plate, he has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Bar-rel is whipped through the zone (94 mph exit velocity) as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Brooks is a tall, lanky 3B/RHP with a bright future ahead on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities are tremendous as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. He moves well laterally, displaying range and soft / sure hands. Throws are accurate with on line zip (97 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate he continues to shine, displaying tremendous hitting abilities with excellent power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick / explosive (94 mph exit velocity) generating bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm action is loose, free, and quick. Arm strength is at a pro level as indicated by his top velocity of 88 mph. Fastball shows a range of 83-88 mph on a downhill plane with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sharp break. Slider is harder with tight spin and short / sharp break. Off speed stuff show as outstanding pitches that will get outs at the next level. Control is outstanding as he works fast, attacking hitters and through strikes with all his pitches. With his baseball tools, Brooks will get looks from the top collegiate coaches, possibly as a two-way guy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
