09/30/2015 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Brooks showed at 3B at the event and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He ran his best 60 time to date as he continues to increase foot quickness and moves well laterally. Hands/feet work well together through the fielding process as he presents his glove well out front. Actions are aggressive as he attacks balls and shows off athletic abilities on the slow roller play. At the plate, he shows an aggressive approach with hands working through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact as he works to keep hands inside the ball utilizing all fields Power numbers will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. Mental makeup continues to show as a plus tool as he plays with high energy and is very coachable.

09/13/2015 - College PREP - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Brooks is a tall, athletic SS that will graduate in 2018 with a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are outstanding, displaying smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active as he works around and plays through balls with his body. He moves well laterally and presents soft/sure hands well out front. Hands/feet work well together and he gets rid of the baseball quickly with life, carry, and accuracy on his throws. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and displaying gap to gap power as he shows plus barrel accuracy. With 3 years to further develop, Brooks has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
