Official Scouting Report

10/17/2020 - Fall Pro Training Experience - NC (HS) Bruce continues to shine on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 53 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/23/2020 - All-In Membership - Nashville, TN Bruce is a solid RHH 3B who continues to progress on the diamond. At the plate, this righty displays an athletic stance with active hands and fluid rhythm to load. He whips the barrel on-plane, connects and drives the gaps. Creating more extension through contact while engaging his full lower 1/2 will result in more pop off of the barrel. At 3B, he hustles into a square fielding position behind the GB. He tracks the ball into his mitt, gathers well and has a clean transfer to throw. Strengthening his arm (long toss) will aid in his defensive development. Only a 2023 grad - Bruce has tools with still a lot of time to progress.

08/09/2018 - Babe Ruth National All Star Classic Bruce is a young 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2023. In the field, Bruce takes decent angles to the ball and makes the routine plays. Bruce can improve defensively by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and gets back into his load well. He shows a good rhythm and makes solid contact. Bruce can improve as a hitter by consistently keeping his head on the ball. On the mound, Bruce works hard and keeps his pitches around the zone. His fastball ranges from 38-41mph. Bruce can improve as a pitcher by gathering to a balance point over the rubber. With five more years to develop, Bruce has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
