Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Bryan showed good skills at both positions during his time at the UA Preseason All-American. He is a strong, athletic, RHP/OF, with good baseball instincts and play skills. In the OF, Byran has a long / loose arm with solid life and carry. He gets good reads on the ball and makes plays on balls hit his way. Bryan does a nice job of keeping his body under control, and with improved lateral movements, defensive abilities can further improve. On the mound, Bryan has good mound presence and pitchability. He has an athletic arm action, loose wrist, and solid overall mechanics. He finishes well and lands in a good landing position. If Bryan can avoid throwing across his body, we could see more velocity and numbers on the mound rise. Offensively, Bryan has good balance and bat speed. He is an aggressive hitter, with a direct path to the ball, and a proper load. Bryan has a short stroke and power into the gaps. With looser actions and hands closer to his body, Bryan can further improve offensive numbers.

12/20/2009 - College PREP - Agoura Hills, CA Bryan is an athletic Senior, that has the ability to be a 2-way player in College. In the OF, Bryan has good footwork, hands, and arm action. He works to get behind the baseball well, takes a good crow hop, and has a strong throwing arm that was clocked at 89 MPH. His throws are also online and accurate. On the mound, Bryan has good mechanics, rhythm, and gets good extension on his pitches. His FB was clocked at 85 MPH, and we feel there is more velocity in his arm. Bryan's CB has tight 11-6 shape as he throws it with good arm speed. He has a good overall idea on the mound and with a little polish, he could make quite an impact at the College level. At the plate, Bryan has excellent balance, good bat speed, barrel accuracy, and use of his lower 1/2. He has a short load, he attacks the baseball, and can hit with power to all fields. Overall, Bryan is an athletic 2-way player that can run (6.91), hit, field, and pitch.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
