06/19/2008 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - 2008 Morris jumped his top end fastball velocity five mph since we last saw him, up from 80 to 85 mph. In addition, his breaking ball velocity really jumped as well - indicative of the current fastball jump along with the potential for another one, has enough looseness and quickness in his hand and wrist to allow him to spin the ball well. He showed the ability to work the ball in and out to hitters, and threw a lot of strikes. Had a good pitching plan, knew how he wanted to go after hitters - changed speeds and locations well. At the plate, he showed good bat speed and did a good job of staying back. Can work to shorten and flatten his stroke, tended to get a little long and loopy. Defensively, he showed soft hands and a strong arm. Footwork can improve, just relied on pure athletic ability. Hands need to get more out in front as well. Has plenty of ability to work with, and room to develop further.
