ADVANCED SWING METRICS BY SWINGTRACKER

Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

06/27/2010 - Team One South 2010 Brian is a tall, slender, RHP with room to grow. He is an aggressive Pitcher who fills the strike zone with strikes. He works quickly keeps his eyes to his target, and he uses his off speed pitches well. Bryan has good mound presence and pitchability, and with added arm strength, and more of a focus on the bottom 1/2 of the zone, abilities on the mound can get even better.

06/19/2009 - USA Baseball 16U Championships (FL) - 2009 Bryan is a young two-way player on the mound and at 1B with a tall, athletic looking body that shows projection as he continues to physically mature and fill out. He projects well at both positions. Foot speed is below average and he needs to get on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active and aggressive in coming to get the baseball and displays proper foot work around the bag. Glove action is soft, clean, and sure as he consistently picked balls out of the dirt saving throws. Defensive abilities at 1B are near above average. Arm strength is above average as indicated by his top velocity of 86 mph. He will benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, raising velocities. His throws display carry and accuracy into the target. At the plate, Waller has near above average abilities and power. Hands are quick and direct to the baseball and stay through the baseball, creating extension. He shows a feel for the barrel displaying gap to gap power. He was 4 for 11 with 2 2B at the event. On the mound, delivery is well above average showing solid balance point and creates deception to the hitter. Fastball shows tail as he works on a strong downhill plane, creating tough angles for hitters. Off speed pitches are above average. Breaking ball displays 11/6 shape with tight spin. Changeup shows a solid feel for with fade. He attacks hitters with all his pitches throwing strikes and fields his position well. With 2 years to further develop, Bryan has a ton of potential to be a special type player, possible two way guy at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
