Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

11/19/2017 - College PREP - Marlborough (Boston), MA Bryant showed nice improvements on the mound with his delivery, arm action, and a spike in velocity at his last workout in Boston. He topped out at 78 MPH, his arm action is quick and clean, and he lands in a square position. Bryant has good feel for his off-speed pitches and competes in the zone. Bryant is a promising lefty and can further improve on the hill by sharpening his FB and adding arm strength. At 1st base, Bryant has active feet, he moves well to the ball, and fields in an athletic position. He makes routine plays consistently and throws with momentum and accuracy to his target. Improved range and a softer backhand can help defense get better. Offensively, Bryant has a square/athletic set-up, proper load, and rhythmic swing. He has a direct barrel to the ball, can work it gap to gap, and gets solid extension through the ball. More lower body and added bat speed can help hitting improve.

11/15/2015 - College PREP - Marlborough (Boston), MA Bryant is a young (2019 grad) 2-way player as a LHP/1B. On the mound, this lefty has a 3-pitch arsenal (FB, CUT, CH) coming from a low 3/4 arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point, maintains level shoulders and stays directional toward the plate. He keeps his eyes on the target and repeats well. FB ranges from 63-65 mph as it stays up in the zone. Cutter has 1/7 shape with loose spin. Becoming more consistent with his release point - breaking it off will help to improve effectiveness on his CB. At 1B - Bryant hustles into a square fielding position and tracks GB's into his mitt. He works around the bag and has the ability to pick it with soft hands. Working lower (from the ground-up) will help to improve abilities at 1B. As a hitter - he shows similarly from both sides of the plate. He takes an aggressive hack and barrels up the ball - driving it back up the middle of the field. Creating more extension through the zone along with utilizing more of his lower 1/2 will result in increased power. Only a 2019 grad - Bryant still has a ton of time to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
