11/08/2012 - Baseball Factory Training & Competition at Pirate City In Bryce's latest Factory outing he showed greater consistency in different facets of his game. Defensively, he kept his pop-times from 2.25 to 2.3 seconds and showed a nice release. He needs to implement a throwing program, loosen up in his setup and deliver the glove directly to the ball while blocking. Offensively, he utilizes his lower half well, gets to a nice launch position, and makes contact. He is late, and has a tendency to bar his arm. On the mound, he increased his velocity to 79 MPH from a previous high of 72 MPH. He also threw a curve-ball that acted more as a slurve with 10/4 shape. He has a repeatable arm slot, separates on time, is directional, has command over his breaking ball, and works well in and out of the zone. More consistent rhythm, eliminating wrap and excess body movement will allow for greater control and velo jumps. Bryce is a very hard worker and is extremely coachable. At this point, we believe he projects well as a primary catcher that can be efficient on the mound with more work.
