Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

09/11/2016 - College PREP - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Bryce is a 2017 OF/RHP with a projectable frame (6'3", 185lbs). Defensively, Bryce has active feet and covers a lot of ground in the OF. He fields in an athletic position with sure hands and has a clean exchange to throw. He has a loose arm action from a 3/4 slot and is consistently accurate with his throws. He gains good momentum on his throws which allows them to remain on line to his target. Bryce can improve defensively by quickening his release on his throws. At the plate, Bryce sets up in an athletic stance and has a square, short stride to the ball. He shows good balance in the box and comes through the zone with an on plane bat path with good extension. Bryce can improve as a hitter by getting into his load earlier to improve his timing. On the mound, Bryce shows a three pitch mix with his fastball ranging from 77-80mph. Breaking ball sits from 59-60mph with 10-4 break. Changeup ranges form 66-67mph with good sinking action. Bryce can improve as a pitcher by maintaining his center balance and separating his hands earlier in his delivery. Overall, Bryce is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

09/13/2015 - College PREP - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Bryce is a tall, athletic RHP/OF that will graduate in 2017 with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is slightly above average as indicated by his 7.42 60 time. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are aggressive as he works to get behind balls as he works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Hands feet work well through the fielding process and he works to get rid of the baseball quickly with life / carry on his throws. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with good barrel accuracy as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields and displaying gap to gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 78-80 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He slows arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to throw more strikes. With 2 years to further develop, Bryce has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
