Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

08/19/2018 - College PREP - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Bryce is a talented 3B/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. At 3B, Bryce plays with effective footwork and agile actions. He fields the ball in an athletic position with firm hands. Bryce has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays through the baseball and has a strong arm showing consistent throws across the diamond. As a right-handed hitter, Bryce has a square setup with a firm front side and centered balance. He has fluid rhythm and a short stride. Bryce shows fast bat speed with a direct swing path. He engage his lower half throughout his swing and produces hard contact. Bryce has the ability to drive the ball to each gap with power. On the mound, Bryce has a balanced, on-time delivery. He has a loose arm action and extends through his release. Bryce stays square to home plate with a controlled landing at the proper stride length. He rotates towards his target and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Bryce works downhill with his fastball and shows medium break on his curveball. Overall, Bryce has above average talent on both sides of the ball giving him a bright future on the diamond.

08/14/2016 - College PREP - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Bryce is a 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2019. Defensively, Bryce has good feel to center ground balls with active feet and a good first step. He works low to high with the glove as he puts himself into a low athletic fielding position to track the baseball. His accurate online throws play well for 3B and will continue to get stronger with long toss program and strength. On the mound, Bryce shows good tempo as he likes to work quick in between pitches and shows a live, quick arm. His downhill plane helps him be deceptive and solid command of 3 pitches. FB sits 78-80mph, CB shows natural medium break with 11/5 shape, and changeup shows slight sink with 73-75mph velocity. In the box, Bryce sits comfortable in an athletic set up with good rhythm and a free easy approach. His fast bat speed translates into consistent square contact and a line drive type stroke. Overall, this young two way player will continue to open eyes as he excels on the field making him a player to watch approaching his sophomore season.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
