Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

08/14/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Gambrills, MD Bryce continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and is a prospect on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time, now a 7.21 runner. At SS, defensive abilities are now well above average as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent hard contact (82 mph exit velocity) and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 76-77 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

09/08/2018 - College PREP - Gambrills, MD Bryce continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he has improved the most through a crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach. At 2B, feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to attack more and play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will continue to increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Bryce is a hard working player and made a lot of adjustments throughout the camp. As a SS, Bryce displayed a good prep step and follows through on his throws across the diamond. If he continues to create angles to the ball, show an early/low glove, and catch the ball out in front of his body he will increase his overall ability at the position. As a hitter, Bryce has an athletic stance, stays balanced through his swing and has some pop with the bat. If he continues to get the knob into the drive position, attack the inside part of the ball, and keep his head down at contact he will increase his consistency as a hitter. On the mound, Bryce displays good composure, repeats his delivery, and stays directional to the plate. Mixing up his moves and timing on the mound will help him keep runners from advancing bases. Bryce is an intelligent player and continues to improve with experience.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
