04/02/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Bryden continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He is aggressive and plays through with momentum to his target. At 2B, feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time.

12/20/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Bryden is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time in Pirate City. At the plate, this righty shows an open stance with centered balance as he works to get loaded. He tracks pitches into the zone and off of the barrel, squaring the ball up and hitting line-drives. He has a good eye for the zone, battles and doesn't go down easily (drawing 3 walks and 1 HBP). Defensively, he has active prep and is ready to move right or left. He secures the ball with 2-hands, gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. Strengthening his arm (long toss) will help to take his skills in the OF to the next level. Steele (2018 grad) is a versatile player who has upside as he continues to develop.

10/16/2016 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Bryden is a lean OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he shows smooth / clean actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls as he reads balls well off the bat. He is aggressive and plays through the ball with momentum towards his target. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry on his throws. Range will improve as he increases foot quickness. At the plate he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick and work to and through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. With 2 years to further develop, Bryden has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
