Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Bryon continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are quick / aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. He has some strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 81 mph. Fastball shows good tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch with sinking action. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches at the next level. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters, working to get ahead. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound.

09/01/2019 - College PREP - San Francisco, CA Bryon is a lean OF/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2020. In the field, Bryon shows active footwork and attacks the ball aggressively. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He produces fast bat speed through the zone, leading to solid pop to his pull side. On the mound, Bryon gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Bryon shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 79mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 65-69mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 72-77mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Bryon is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
