Official Scouting Report

06/16/2022 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (HS) Bryson continues to show improvements on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.44 runner. In the OF, defensive abilities are now solid as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate with on line carry (84 mph velocity) to his target. He utilizes his quick feet in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, flashing gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through an aggressive hip turn. At the event, he was 3 for 6 with 2 2B. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 81 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with late break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

02/27/2022 - All-In Membership - Highland Park (DFW), TX Bryson is an OF/LHP who will graduate in 2023. Tall frame athletic build with strength present and room to add throughout. In the OF, he starts with a pre-pitch routine, with active feet, and has body control at baseball. Fields with his hands out front from a square fielding position and has a clean transfer. Good reads off the bat enable him to flip his hips and works behind/through the baseball with a high 1-hand catch. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot, with a long arm action, and incorporates his lower half on throws into the infield up to 81mph. On the mound, this left-handed pitcher has long levers and a projectible frame. He keeps his eyes on target throughout his delivery and works with good tempo. He lands square to his target with good with good rotation. He challenges hitters with a FB that sits 76-77mph with arm side run, a 12/6 shaped breaking ball, and a developing changeup with some arm side run that he throws with FB arm speed. FB was best pitch during his bullpen. A left-handed hitter, starts with an athletic and square stance. He has a good rear hip coil, with activated hands, and gets extended through the baseball. He squared up baseballs to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 85mph during BP. As he continues to develop and mature, we see Bryson having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
