01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Burke is an athletic and strong 2019 catching prospect. Behind the dish, Burke starts in a relaxed primary and has a quiet secondary stance. When receiving, he works behind the ball and has soft hands. When blocking, he anticipates the ball in the dirt and he controls the ball with his chest. When throwing, Burke has a clean exchange, a quick release, and gains ground in his footwork. He communicates well and threw out 2 runners on the weekend. At the plate, Burke starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and creates rhythm in his lower half. He creates backside drive with his lower half and makes consistent hard contact. Burke will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/18/2017 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Burke is an absolute stud on and off the field, with the tools and ability that make him the best player on the field and the work ethic and smarts that got him on the Academic Team. He smokes the ball to all fields with big time power to hit home runs to any part of the park. He finds the barrel very consistently with great bat speed and a direct path to the ball to make himself an extremely tough out. He is a leader and a wall behind the plate, taking control of the game and smothering everything in the dirt. He is very advanced receiving and framing with a quiet, synced body to be smooth. He also shows off a cannon to totally shut down the running game with sub-2 second pop times. There is nothing Burke can't do on the field, which coupled with his work ethic and coachability makes him a prime prospect for the next level.

10/05/2016 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Burke has really improved his baseball abilities since the last time we saw him. He shows a tremendous future on the diamond with the makings of a special type player. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer/exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest to date at 2.00 with accuracy/carry on his throws. He will control the running game with his feet and arm. Receiving/blocking tools show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he has really improved, now showing outstanding hitting abilities with well above average power potential. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path, creating extension. He has strength and works to stay inside the baseball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a hard worker as he plays with a lot of energy. Burke shows great leadership traits behind the dish and will get looks from collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

11/05/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Burke is a very hard worker who has leadership type qualities. He brings his all to the field and plays the game the right way. He has a high baseball IQ and is always thinking one play ahead. Behind the dish - he sits in with athletic/quiet actions and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. Quick footwork allows him to work laterally around pitches in the dirt - centering/deadening them off of his chest. He replaces well, gains ground toward 2B and puts his throws on the bag (pop times now as low as 2.19). As a hitter - Camper steps into the box with a purpose. He maintains centered balance, works into a loaded position and waits for his pitch. Burke has the tools and makeup of a special player. His hard work didn't go unnoticed as he was awarded the MVP of the entire camp - given to the player who is willing to make adjustments and give 100% at everything he does. Burke has a bright future ahead of him.

03/29/2015 - National Tryout - Pittsburgh, PA Burke continues to work hard on his game. Behind the dish, he presents a low target and receives with a soft mitt. He shows his athleticism and works to center pitches in the dirt. Exchange is clean as pop times are now at 2.42. They will continue to drop as he increases his arm strength. At the plate, Camper shows a balanced approach with a solid base. He hits the ball where it's pitched and uses the entire field. Getting more extension through his finish will help to increase power at the plate. Only a 2019 grad - Burke has a solid skill-set with still a ton of time to develop.

07/25/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Burke is a versatile young catcher with very good blocking abilities. He works very hard behind the plate, is very aware of defensive situations and manages the game well. Improving his communication on the field and continuing to work hard and polish his receiving and blocking abilities will help Burke become a solid backstop in high school. At the plate, Burke sets up athletically, strides square and has excellent balance. His balance paired with improvements to his load and explosiveness can send his hitting tangibles upward in a hurry. He is a coaches' favorite type player who constantly works hard and sets a great example to teammates and is a respected and likable player.

03/30/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Washington (Pittsburgh), PA Burke is a young, 2-way player who shows polished skills behind the plate. Defensively, Burke presents his glove well, sits in low, and his hands are sure. He takes good angles to block, he moves his feet quickly, and he throws with consistency to 2nd base. In the OF, Burke has good pre-pitch actions, he attacks the ball aggressively, and he works behind the ball well. At the plate, Burke has a good set-up, a level swing, and he uses all fields. He is quick to the ball, stays on top, and he uses his lower 1/2. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Catching
1. Long toss
2. Quicken feet
Outfield
1. Lateral quickness
2. Play through ground balls more
Offense
1. Let ball travel
2. Added strength

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
