Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Burke is a hardworking OF/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. Offensively, Burke has a tall setup with his weight in the back of his stance. He has a load with a short, on-time stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Burke has a long swing path and is developing bat speed. He has great patience with good pitch selection. Burke is a contact type hitter who looks to put the ball in play. In the field, Burke works hard and makes the routine plays. He fields the ball in a high position with late hands. Burke has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from an over the top arm slot. His throws are accurate and he hits the cut off when needed. Overall, Burke is a coachable prospect who can advance his skills with development.

12/09/2017 - Hitting Accelerated Training HS- Columbia, MD Burke is a coachable hitter who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Hitting Accelerated Training. At the plate, this switch hitter shows similar swings from both sides of the plate. He sets up in an open stance and gets into his load well. He works to barrel up the ball and sprays the ball to all fields. Burke can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter stride square to the pitcher. With three more years to develop, Burke has the time and potential to further progress his skills at the plate.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
