07/28/2023 - Baseball Factory National World Series at JRTC (MS) C.J. is a talented C/1B in the 2027 class. Scouts were impressed with his athletic ability and feel he has a high ceiling at both positions. Behind the plate, he is a plus defender and shows smooth actions. Glove has pocket awareness and his feet are quick. He can maintain the strike zone and his exchanges are quick. Arm action is short and can control the running game with a 2.32 pop. He blocks on-time and tucks well. Chest can have more of an angle over the ball. At the plate, he shows game bat speed (72). He had aggressive AB’s and created consistent contact. Engages his lower half well and his timing is fluid. Overall, scouts feel that C.J. can excel at the next level and are eager to witness his growth at future BF events.

07/22/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (MS) CJ continues to shine on the diamond. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard.

04/18/2021 - All-In Membership - Las Vegas, NV C.J. is a class of 2027 1B/C prospect. Behind the plate, he starts in a good and low stance. On his throws downs he does a good job of keeping his feet in line with little amounts of wasted movement. Presents a low target for pitchers to throw to. Has very good glove pocket awareness. Creates angles when blocking. At 1B, he uses active feet to come downhill on the baseball. Does a good job of fielding through the baseball. Eyes stay behind the backhand. At the plate, he does a good job of getting his hands extended out front. Starts in an athletic hitting position. Smooth and consistent timing helps him make consistent contact. C.J. shows a lot of confidence in his ability and will be fun to watch continue to grow and develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
