12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Cade continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a bright future on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.10 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength. He shows a solid setup and soft glove action, sticking balls in the zone well. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process with skill improving as he improves flexibility. At the plate he shows an athletic / open setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-75 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with early break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

10/15/2017 - College PREP - Birmingham, AL Cade is a solid, strong catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed a range of 2.13-2.28 with accuracy / carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he tracks balls well through the receiving process. He uses his body well through the blocking process and moves well laterally, centering all balls out front. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting abilities with well above average power potential. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. With 2 years to further develop, Cade has a ton of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
