Official Scouting Report

  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Cade continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with carry (90 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter but projects best as a RHH. Hands are quick (98 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and driving the ball to the deepest part of the park. On the mound, his righty has a 2 pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. Fastball shows a range of 79-80 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches.

08/05/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Dublin (Columbus), OH Cade worked out at both SS and on the mound during his time in Dublin. Defensively, Cade has active feet, athletic actions, and soft hands. He moves well to the ball, has a quick 1st step, and has a clean exchange with a consistent arm to his target. On the mound, Cade has a good pitchers frame, a repeatable delivery, and he works at a good pace. He separates on time, has good direction toward home, and competes in the zone. Offensively, Cade can switch hit and is currently better from the right side. He has an athletic set-up, loads well, and swings in good rhythm. He has fast bat speed, makes consistent contact, and uses his lower body. From the left, Cade has an open set-up, swings in some rhythm, and puts the bat on the ball.

08/06/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Dublin (Columbus), OH Cade once again showed more improvements at his most recent workout in Dublin. Radar velocity increased to 70 MPH and OF grades spiked as well. On the mound, Cade showed a repeatable delivery, eyes on target, and a compact delivery. He separates on-time, lands in a square direction, and finishes in a complete position. In the OF, arm and fielding both improved to 38 grades. He showed active footwork, the ability to play through the ball, and accuracy to his target. From the left side, Cade has a level/repeatable swing, a proper load, and good barrel accuracy. From the right side, Cade can spray to all fields, he uses his lower body, and he hits line drives.

07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Cade continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are aggressive in attacking balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he showed as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both side through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows good barrel accuracy and has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. He is a versatile player that can play many positions.

03/26/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Harmony (Pittsburgh), PA Cade is a solid, 2-way player at SS/OF. In the middle infield, he takes quick/athletic angles as he fields Gb's with soft hands. He turns a smooth 4-6 DP and makes accurate/on line throws to his target. In the OF, he displays active footwork with plus range. He gets behind on fly balls and play through the ball towards his target. With the bat, Cade uses a middle of the field approach. He has smooth rhythm to load as he creates consistent contact with each pitch. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Funnel the ball
2. Develop softer glove
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Outfield
1. Quicker 1st step
2. Quicker exchange to throw
3. Low throws
Offense
1. Improve bat speed
2. Lower 1/2 drive
3. Extend through contact

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
