07/05/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Cade is an athletic and talented 2-way player. In the OF, Cade has an active prep step and reads the ball off the bat. He plays through the ball and creates momentum in his lower half when he throws. Continuing to work on game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from different arm angles. At the plate, Cade starts in a tall stance, keep his barrel on plane with the ball, and has good pitch recognition. Continuing to work on his separation and getting his front foot down on time will allow him to see the ball into the contact zone longer. Being aggressive with the back leg and keeping his head down at contact will allow him to drive the ball through the middle part of the field. On the bump, Cade gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a loose arm action. He works north to south and pounds the bottom half of the zone. Continuing to develop a secondary pitch, such as a changeup, will help off set his fastball. Cade is a hard worker and made several adjustments throughout the week. He will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

05/06/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Arcata, CA Cade is a young, lefty, 2-way player who pitches and plays OF. On the mound, Cade has a balanced delivery, on-time separation, and a good release toward the plate. He keeps his eyes on target, has a controlled landing toward home plate, and competes in the zone with his pitches. On the OF, Cade has active feet, he attacks the ball aggressively, and throws with accuracy to his target. At the plate, Cade has an open stance, a short stride, and he gets good extension through the ball. He makes consistent contact and works the ball well to the opposite field. Cade can improve skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
