09/29/2019 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Caden is a LHP/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Caden gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He stays inline towards the plate and works to keep his pitches around the zone. Caden shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 64mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 57-58mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 60-62mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Extending through his release can help Caden improve as a pitcher. In the field, Caden shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields with a firm glove. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws. Caden can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He gets back into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with plus bat speed, leading to consistent line drives. Working a smoother rhythm into his load can help Caden improve as a hitter. With four more years to develop, Caden has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

08/12/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Caden is a young, lefty, 2-way player who plays OF and pitcher. Defensively, Caden has active feet, agile movements, and he fields in a square/athletic position. He is aggressive to the ball, catches at its highest point, and plays through with accuracy and carry to his target. On the mound, Caden keeps his eyes on target, he works well to his balance point, and has a controlled landing toward home plate. Offensively, Caden has a square set-up, he loads well, and stands in well balanced. He has fast bat speed, makes hard/consistent contact, and he uses his lower body well. Overall skills can improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
