06/17/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Caden continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he has improved the most, through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, (81 mph exit velocity) generating bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat centered as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Defensively, he attacks balls, plays through well, and presents soft / sure hands out front. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy across the diamond. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 80 mph. Fastball showed a range of 79-80 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is extremely coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

04/30/2017 - College PREP - Fort Myers, FL Caden is an intriguing two-way player. As a SS, Caden makes the routine play, shows the ability to move left to right, shows good footwork on DP's, and makes accurate throws across the diamond. If he continues work on his flexibility, presenting a low/early glove, create pre pitch movement, and exchange the ball in front of his body, he will become more complete SS. As a hitter, Caden shows the ability to track the ball well and have a consistent swing. If he continues to work on creating rhythm in his hands, drive his backside into the ball, attack the inside part of the ball, and getting extension through contact, he will make more consistent contact. As a Pitcher, Caden has good balance over the rubber, stays tall, and has a good front side when striding toward the plate. If he continues to work on creating separation in his hands, and riding his backside toward the plate, he will create more velocity on his fastball. Developing his secondary pitches will advance his ability on the mound as well.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
