08/23/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - St Cloud (Minneapolis), MN Caden is a a solid/strong/projectable (6'4"/220) 2-way player as a 3B/RHP. With the bat, this righty stands in with an open stance and centered balance. He has smooth rhythm to load, takes a hack with + bat speed and engages his lower 1/2 well driving the ball on a line. At 3B, he shows active pre-pitch footwork and works into a square/athletic fielding position. He gathers well and has a clean transfer to throw. On the mound, this RHP has 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He maintains good pace, has smooth separation and gets strong glove-side lead. He repeats his delivery and mixes his pitches well. FB ranges from 69-71 mph as he keeps it down in the zone. CB shows 10/4 shape with good spin when he's consistent with his release point. Changeup has sink and compliments FB well. Mercer has upside as he enters into his junior year.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
