  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

07/21/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Fort Wayne, IN Caleb is a strong RHP/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Caleb gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Caleb shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72mph with arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 57-59mph with 11-5 break. Striding square towards the plate can help Caleb improve as a pitcher. In the field, Caleb makes the routine plays and makes a clean exchange, working to keep his throws accurate to his target. Caleb can improve defensively by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes an aggressive swing, working to barrel up the baseball. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Caleb improve as a hitter. With three more years to develop, Caleb has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/29/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Indianapolis, IN Caleb is a RHP/OF prospect who will graduate in 2022. On the mound, Caleb works with a free arm and extends through his release. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Caleb improve as a pitcher. In the field, Caleb shows a good prep step and makes the routine plays. He makes a clean exchange and throws from a 3/4 angle, working to make accurate throws to his target. Caleb can improve defensively by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and works to barrel up the baseball. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Caleb improve as a hitter. With three more years to develop, Caleb has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Caleb is a solid RHP/1B who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 66-69 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows good plate discipline and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls through a low approach. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 4 years to further develop, Caleb has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
