Official Scouting Report

  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

10/25/2020 - All-In Membership - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN This athletic 2-way player continues to progress on the diamond. Offensively, this lefty shows a tall/open stance with and aggressive approach. He hits the ball where it's pitched and sprays it to all parts of the field (exit velocity = 86 mph). In the OF, he hustles to his right and left to track down fly-balls. He works into position behind and plays through the ball well. On the mound, this lefty has sound mechanics and repeats his delivery well. He works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and gets good glove-side lead. FB ranges from 75-76 mph as he commands it to both sides of the plate. Curveball has 2/8 shape with good/sharp action. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed, helping to create deception. Caleb is a solid 2-way player who should find success in this his senior year.

08/23/2020 - All-In Membership - St Cloud (Minneapolis), MN Caleb is a skilled 2-way prospect (OF/LHP) who continues to shine on the diamond. With the bat, this LHH shows a tall/open stance with centered balance and fluid rhythm to load. He takes a hack with + bat speed, engages his lower 1/2 and connects with strength (exit velocity = 85 mph). In the OF, he has active prep footwork with a quick first step to track down fly-balls hit to his right and left. He secures the ball and gains ground through it, with a quick transfer/exchange to throw. On the mound, this LHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He maintains good tempo, gets good glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB tops out at 76 mph while showing some cutting action. Breaking ball has 2/8 shape - 64-65 mph. Changeup has sink as he works to keep it down in the zone and get GB outs. Boelter is a solid 2-way player who has the tools that will translate well into the next level.

08/02/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Caleb continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He work to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus (7.06 60 time) as he moves well laterally and covers ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 6 for 10 with a 2B and 3B. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-76 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with tight spin and late break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/27/2019 - College PREP - Windsor (Madison), WI Caleb is a talented 2021 2-way prospect. In the OF, Caleb is on time with his prep step, he reads the ball off the bat well, and has good angles to the ball. He fields the ball in front of his body, he has a clean exchange, and makes consistent throws to the plate. At the plate, Caleb starts in a tall and open stance. He attacks the inside part of the ball and has partial backside rotation. He swings with intent and has a pull side approach. On the bump, Caleb has run on his fastball, he has a sharp break on his curveball, and throws his changeup for strikes. He gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and rotates toward his target. He has a heavy ball and attacks the bottom part of the zone. Caleb will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
