Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

07/16/2022 - Baseball Factory National World Series at IMG Academy - (MS) Caleb is a 2027 3B/RHP prospect who showed well during the National World Series. In the field, Caleb starts on the balls of his feet with ability to make routine plays. He works from right to left as he centers the baseball and fields from an on-time fielding position. Has a 2-hand exchange as he creates momentum towards his target. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot, with backspin on his ball, and had an arm velocity up to 65mph. At the plate, he shows good plate discipline and has a quiet head with level eyes. During his round of BP, he hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 65mph. On the mound, he is poised on the mound and pitches to contact. He challenges hitters with a FB that topped out at 64mph, a 10/4 breaking ball, and a CH that flashes some tailing action in the strike zone. Overall, Caleb is a solid 2-way prospect who has the skillset to further develop on the baseball field.

11/04/2021 - Baseball Factory Select Training at Pirate City Caleb is a coachable 3B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Select Training at Pirate City. In the field, Caleb shows active footwork and gets into position on time. He fields the ball out in front of his body and gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate throws across the diamond. Working on his glove technique can help Caleb field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a controlled stride. He gets into a small load and rotates his core well, driving the ball to his pull side. Caleb can barrel up more baseballs by working through a more level swing path. On the mound, Caleb gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and finishes with a controlled landing. Caleb operates with a two pith mix with his fastball topping out at 59mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits at 51mph with 11-5 break. Extending through his release can help Caleb improve his pitch command and velocity. With six more years to develop, Caleb has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

08/15/2021 - All-In Membership - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Caleb is an athletic 3B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active in working around and playing through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 56-57 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 6 years to further develop, Caleb has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
