01/14/2011 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2011 Daniels showed good stuff on the hill during the Pre-Season All-America. He has an on-time and inline delivery, good balance and a long / free arm action. His FB touched 87 MPH which he throws on a downhill plane. His off-speed are very solid. Caleb keeps his eyes to his target; he works both sides of the plate and mixes his pitches well. The ball comes out of his hand nicely, and he shows good mound presence. At the plate, Caleb has good balance, bat speed, and barrel accuracy. He has strength in his swing, gets good extension through the ball and hits hard to his pull side. Caleb is a solid two-way player that should get looks from many college coaches.

06/17/2010 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 1 Caleb showed good skills both in the INF and on the mound during his time in Omaha. He currently projects better on the hill with a FB reaching 88 MPH. Caleb has a good delivery, solid deception, and a loose arm. He has control of the strike zone, and attacks hitters. In the INF, Caleb has soft hands and good range. He is an aggressive fielder with a plus arm and good carry to his target. If Caleb can improve his footwork and get into a better fielding position, defensive grades can get even better. Offensively, Caleb has good balance and a level swing path. He works the ball gap to gap and shows some pop in his bat. Better pitch selection will help Caleb's offensive numbers improve. Overall, Caleb is an athletic player with good baseball instincts.

05/09/2010 - College PREP - Glen Allen (Richmond), VA Caleb is a RHP with a solid, strong body that is well suited for his position. Mechanics of delivery are solid and sound that allows his quick arm action to work loose and free away from his body. Fastball shows a range of 85-87 with late life. Breaking ball is best off speed pitch, displaying 10/4 shape with tight spin and shows potential of being a quality pitch at the next level as he gains more consistency. Changeup shows good arm side run but slows arm speed down, tipping off pitch. Daniels attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches, staying down in the zone. Caleb has an upside on the mound and will get looks from the collegiate coaches over the next year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
