  • SSPosition Projection

10/09/2016 - College PREP - Spokane, WA Caleb is a talented SS prospect with a projectable frame. In the field, he plays with efficient footwork taking the correct angles to cover good ground laterally. He fields the ball squarely and funnels well. Caleb throws from a high 3/4 slot with consistent accuracy. He looks good on the double-play with smooth footwork around the bag. Offensively, Caleb is a right-handed hitter with a leadoff hitter's mentality. He has very quick hands with good timing for line drive results. Caleb does a nice job obtaining backspin with his contact allowing the baseball to travel off his bat. Caleb is a solid all around prospect with the potential to become even better.

12/27/2015 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Caleb is an athletic/projectable MIF who showed well during his time at the Recruiting Classic. Defensively, he is aggressive and comes to get the GB working around it smoothly. He works well from the ground-up, funnels smoothly and works in-line toward his target at 1B. Offensively, this RHH steps into the box with a purpose. He has rhythm in his hands and gets back into a loaded position. He takes a hack, barrels the ball up consistently and drives the middle of the field. He battles at the plate and proved to be a tough out (going 4 for 8 with 3 singles, a double and a walk). Caleb is a well-rounded SS who will make an impact when he steps onto the field.

10/04/2015 - College PREP - Spokane, WA Caleb is a lean SS that will graduate in 2017 with a promising future. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.22 60 time. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average abilities through an athletic / squared setup. Hands are quick / aggressive and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power numbers will increase has works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. At SS, feet are active as he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands and proper footwork. He communicates well and plays with high energy. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls more and plays through while presenting hands more out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Caleb has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities as he continues to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
