01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Caleb continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and he is a prospect on the diamond. This lefty has a 3 pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 85 mph. FB jumps out of his hand and shows with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. He works tall and drives downhill, repeating well. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and he showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Feet / hands work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry on his throws. Caleb has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

12/27/2016 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Caleb is a talented LHP/1B prospect who has a projectable frame and good upside. On the mound, Caleb shows solid command pitching from a 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm action. He has the proper stride length and lands open to home plate. Caleb features a fastball at 74-83 MPH with good run. He has good depth on his curveball and throws his changeup with deceptive arm speed. In the field, Caleb plays with active footwork and shows a smooth backhand. He fields the ball athletically and is working to speed up his exchange leading into a short, loose arm action. He plays with momentum through his release throwing from a 3/4 slot showing online, accurate results. Offensively, Caleb has an open, tall stance with an on-time stride as his lower half leads the way. He repeats his swing with an on-plane path producing square contact. Caleb can handle good velocity and works with the middle of the field. Overall, Caleb has skill on both sides of the ball and potential to get even better with development.

11/06/2016 - College PREP - Hillsboro, OR Caleb is a lean built LHP/1B who has talent and upside on both sides of the baseball. At 1B, Caleb plays with good footwork and agile actions doing a nice getting around the baseball to field it squarely. He has a clean exchange and looks especially smooth on his backhand. Caleb has a loose arm action throwing from a 3/4 slot. He plays with momentum through his release and his throws are online. As a left-handed hitter, Caleb has a tall stance with an on time stride and lower half that leads the way. He maintains a centered balance throughout his swing with smooth rhythm. Caleb has an aggressive approach showing contact to all fields and the potential for pull side power. On the mound, Caleb has a balanced, on-time delivery with a clean arm action throwing from a 3/4 slot. He stays square in his direction with a controlled landing. Caleb has good arm side run on fastball. He also features a deceptive change-up with a run and a medium breaking curveball. Overall, Caleb has the skills and approach to become an impactful ball player at the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
