ADVANCED SWING METRICS BY SWINGTRACKER

Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Caleb continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he takes proper / routes angels in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach and has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 76-77 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/22/2019 - College PREP - Lynnwood (Seattle), WA Caleb is a tall RHP/OF prospect who will graduate in 2021. On the mound, Caleb works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate, finishing square to his target. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 77mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 54-58mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 65-71mph. Taking a longer stride can help Caleb improve as a pitcher. In the field, Caleb shows efficient footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He gets into a square position and fields with a firm glove. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. Caleb can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes his stride on time. He gets into his load and takes a level swing, leading to solid line drives. Working a smoother rhythm into his load can help Caleb improve as a hitter. Overall, Caleb is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
