08/26/2018 - College PREP - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Caleb is a tall, solid RHP/1B who will graduate in 2020. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls through a low approach. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 75-78 mph on a downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Caleb has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
