10/27/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Fairfield (Sacramento), CA Caleb is a stud C that will be an impact player at the next level. Behind the dish, Caleb has quick footwork with agile range blocking laterally. His secondary is an athletic and low stance presenting a firm target. His exchange is quick and clean getting the ball out with a short arm action. He gets a quick release showing a pop as low as 2.03 as the ball carries to second base. At the plate, he sets up in an open stance as he gets a square stride. As he fires his hips, he rotates against a firm front side keeping his balance centered. Caleb shows fast bat speed taking a short path to the ball making hard contact to all fields. Overall, Caleb shows a lot of potential to be a factor at the next level for any team.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Caleb is a strong C prospect who continued to showcase his skills at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. Behind the plate, Caleb presents a good target to the pitcher and receives the ball out in front of his body. He gets into a low secondary stance and replaces his feet to throw. He throws with a short arm action to 2B, showing good life through the bag. Caleb moves to block on time and centers the ball in the middle of his body. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He is controlled getting into a simple load and drives his lower half through well. He takes a smooth swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact and gap to gap power. Overall, Caleb is a talented prospect who will be one to follow going into his junior season.

09/02/2018 - College PREP - San Francisco, CA Caleb continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone and he has strength in his swing with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered. Pop times showed in the 2.00 range as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry on his throws. He will control the running game with his feet / arm. Glove action is soft / clean and he sticks balls well in the zone through an athletic setup. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process and he is a wall behind the plate. Caleb will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

07/18/2018 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Caleb is an athlete that works hard behind the plate and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are quick in gaining ground through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 1.89 range with accuracy and zip (88 mph velocity) on his throws. He shows a solid setup and sticks balls well in the zone and utilizes his body well through the blocking process and is a wall behind the plate. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. At the event, he was 3 for 7 with a HR. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable, and plays the game hard.

09/03/2017 - National Tryout Plus - San Francisco, CA Caleb continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, hitting abilities are now well above average through an open / athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He shows good plate discipline and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the low 2.00 range with accuracy and on line carry as he displays outstanding arm strength. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He will control the running game with his feet / arm. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone. He uses his body well through the blocking process and is a wall behind the dish. With 3 years to further develop, Caleb has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

08/02/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Caleb increased arm velocity to 82 MPH and lowered pop time to 2nd base to 1.89 during Pirate City. Behind the plate, Caleb has active footwork, good range, and he sits in athletically. He presents his target, keeps the ball in front when blocking, gains momentum to his target, and delivers the ball with carry. Offensively, Caleb has a balanced set-up, open stance, and uses some lower body. He can spray to all fields and has some pop to the pull side.

04/30/2017 - College PREP - Fairfield (Sacramento), CA Caleb is an athletic built catching prospect who has a talented skill set and good upside. Behind the plate, Caleb stays low and presents a solid target. He moves with good body control and is quick to his knees when needing to block. He has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. Caleb plays with momentum through his release and his throws are online and consistent with his POP times ranging from 2.05-2.15 seconds. As a right-handed hitter, Caleb has a square stance with a centered balance. He takes a good load with a fluid rhythm. Caleb has an on-plane swing path and engages his lower half throughout his swing. He consistently lands the barrel to the baseball producing good contact. He can drive the ball to the pull side. Overall, Caleb has a good approach to the game and above average skill set giving him a bright future on the diamond.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
