Official Scouting Report

  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

01/16/2009 - Under Armour Pre-Season All America - 2009 Caleb is an athletic two-position guy with fluid actions in the infield. Footwork and angles are mature. Arm strength and glove extension need to continue to improve. At the plate he has a level plane and a solid, line drive approach. Tends to be rotational. Had 2 hits in 6 plate appearances in games. On the mound he sits in the mid 70's with slightly above average offspeed stuff. Easy arm and a smooth delivery with good tempo. Control is solid. Strength training and long toss will be of great benefit to him as a pitcher and a position player.

08/04/2008 - College PREP - Cleveland, OH Caleb is a young player that shows as a two way player at SS and on the mound. He shows solid average defensive ability in the middle of the infield displaying quick actions. Glove action is soft, sure and solid in making all the plays. He takes solid first steps in taking proper angles to track down balls in the infield. Caleb continues to show the ability to get it done in the infield. Arm strength is still average and needs to continue to build through a strict long toss program. At the plate, abilities are slightly average showing solid balance and a feel for the barrel. Hitting grades will improve with instruction and work on some mechanical flaws. He needs to work to keep hands inside the baseball to utilize all fields. On the mound, Caleb has continues to show solid command through a smooth repeatable delivery. Breaking ball is near above average displaying a 11/5 shape, tight spin with late break. Changeup has good arm side run but he needs to develop at better feel. Split finger pitch is solid average with downward action. Fast ball will improve if more arm strength is developed. Caleb is young 2010 graduate that still has time to improve his baseball abilities.

06/08/2008 - College PREP - Dublin (Columbus), OH Caleb is an athletic looking player. On the mound, Caleb has a feel for his CB and a directional delivery. His arm is long and loose and uses his lower half. He needs to develop a long toss program to increase arm strength. At SS, Caleb has soft hands and good footwork. He turns the double play well and has a quick first step. Everything works well in the infield. At the plate, Caleb has some bat speed but he is a dead pull hitter. He needs to let the ball travel and hit is where it is pitched to improve the hitting grades. He does have a little pop in his bat and he makes solid contact.

12/27/2007 - Christmas Camp and Tournament - 2007 Korogianos showed a solid hitting approach in game at bats. He did a good job of hitting the ball to all parts of the ballpark, and showed mostly solid balance and bat speed. Can work to improve his lower half action, both loading back pre-pitch and transferring his weight forward through contact. Defensively, he showed good hands and a good exchange. Can work to break down earlier, and to improve his overall quickness. On the mound, he pitched between 75 and 79 with his fastball and showed a quality breaking ball at 62-65 mph. His delivery was balanced for the most part and he mostly had good direction as well. Curve has potential to be an out pitch, but he must establish fastball earlier to get ahead in counts. Overall, a quality young man with good instincts and a "gamer" type approach to baseball. Ran 7.50 in the 60-yard dash.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
