06/20/2022 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (HS) Caleb is a 2024 OF/RHP prospect out of Houston, TX who we got a chance to see at the Omaha National World Series. He ran his best 60 to date at 7.25 seconds and showed well offensively and defensively during his time in Omaha. He is a solid, 2-way player with room to improve. In the OF, Caleb works hard, footwork is smooth, and he tracks the ball well. He works behind fly balls quickly, makes plays consistently, and throws with accuracy from a loose arm action to his target. On the mound, Caleb showed good confidence, eyes on target, and a FB touching 72 MPH. He has a simple starter step, and a clean arm circle, toward the plate. Offensively, Caleb has an athletic stance, an activated load, and he uses his lower body well. He swings in good rhythm, hits line drives, and works the ball gap to gap well. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Caleb as he enters his junior year.

11/11/2021 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at Pirate City Caleb continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel. In the OF, he takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind but needs to play through, creating momentum to his target. Range will improve as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (80 mph velocity) but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

08/08/2021 - All-In Membership - Tomball (Houston), TX Caleb is an OF/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame athletic build, with strong lower half, and plenty of room to add throughout. In the OF, showed active feet and ability to cover ground in all directions. Aggressive routes enable him to create good fielding angles as he works through the ball. Showed ability to flip his hips and go get balls. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with accurate/on-line throws into infield at 80mph. On the mound, this right-handed pitcher has a simple delivery and a quick arm. He gathers over rubber and gets good extension out front. Attacks hitters with his FB that sits 74-78mph. Mixed in an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with tight spin and good depth. Throws a changeup with FB arm speed that has good depth and arm side sink. CH was best pitch during his bullpen. A right-handed hitter, starts with a tall and square stance. Square glide step, with a small hand load, and a fast bat through the zone. Direct barrel path enables him to make consistent contact to the pull side with a bat exit velocity of 80mph during BP. As he continues to develop and mature, we see him having opportunities to play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
