09/15/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East Caleb is one of the top defensive catchers in the 2020 class, and he showed it at the UA BF Futures event. HIs throws to 2B stopped all other action on the field and in the stands as those on hand watched a string of throws in the 1.79 to 1.84 range right on the bag. It was an impressive display, and it looked easy and routine for Caleb. On top of that, he received quality stuff very well in the game, blocked some difficult balls to save runs and exhibited a high baseball IQ while showing vocal leadership skills - a total package behind the plate. As a hitter, Caleb went 1-2 with a walk in the game showing good strike zone judgement and a knack for the barrel. During BP he showed a RH swing that is geared for middle-of-the-field line drives with some emerging power potential. Overall, this is quality prospect at a hard to find premium defensive position!

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
