  • SS/3BPosition Projection

08/01/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Caleb is a coachable SS/3B prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Caleb shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange a shows a quick release on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. Caleb can improve defensively by taking a quicker first step. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He gets back into his load well and leads with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to square contact. Caleb can improve as a hitter by getting into his load sooner. Overall, Caleb is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

05/20/2018 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Caleb is a lean, athletic SS who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.14. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with throws displaying accuracy and zip across the diamond. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 2 years to further develop, Caleb has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
