10/14/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures South Calin continues to get better each time we see him. At the BF UA Futures South event he ran an impressive 6.72 in the 60 and swung the bat with authority. His simple left-handed swing is a good coordination of upper and lower body leading to hard contact. He has strong hands through the zone and an overall quiet confidence in the box that you see in quality hitters.

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Calin had another good showing in Arizona at the UAAAPS Tournament. He continues to show that he has an extremely advanced LH bat - especially for a 2019 grad. He stands in with confidence, has very good knowledge of the strike zone (3 walks in game at bats) and squares balls up on a consistent basis. He has loose, easy actions - releasing the barrel well into and through contact. He sprays line drives to all fields, and flashes some power to the pull side. Defensively Calin reads and reacts well to balls off the bat and has the range to play CF at the next level. He is an athletic player who will be exciting to watch over the next several years.

10/15/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures South One of the few 2019 grads in attendance at the UA Futures South event, Calin showed extremely well. His left-handed stroke and overall approach at the plate are both advanced and play very well against good pitching. He has a knack for finding the barrel and flashed surprising pull-side pop thanks to good barrel whip through contact. Calin runs well (6.75 in the 60) and is an instinctual defender giving him the look of a true CF at the next level. Overall, this is an intriguing young prospect to follow thanks to athleticism, speed and a solid LH stroke.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
