Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Callan is a tall and lean SS/RHP that will graduate in 2023. Callan shows smooth footwork at SS, working to take good angles to the ball. He can improve his range by becoming faster and more agile. He fields the ball with a confident glove and makes clean exchanges as he works to throw. He gets rid of the ball with a quick arm action delivering strong and accurate throws around the diamond. At the plate, Callan sets up in a square stance with comfortable hands getting a short stride. He works hard to get the barrel on plane and make contact to all fields. On the mound, Callan shows a 3-pitch mix with a FB, SL, and CH. The FB is 75-78 with some sink, the SL is 11-5 with medium break, and the CH is deceptive with FB arm speed. He shows confidence on the mound starting with simple movements as he gathers over the rubber. He separates his hands on time with a clean arm action. As he strides down the mound, he gets a controlled landing and accelerates his arm getting good extension as he rotates to finish. Callan shows a solid foundation as a 2023 and will continue to grow and develop over the next few years.

09/01/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - San Francisco, CA Callan is an athletic and talented 2023 2-way prospect. At SS, Callan is o time with his prep step, he has a good first step to the ball, and create good angles. He plays through the ball and throws from multiple arm slots. He has good feeds on double plays and has a clean exchange. At the plate, Callan starts in a tall stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He gets balanced at contact, hits off a frim front side, and has a high finish. He keeps the barrel inside the ball and looks to drive the ball to all fields. On the bump, Callan gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and rides his back hip toward the plate. He has a firm glove tuck and extends over the front side. He has slight movement on his fastball, he has a medium break on his curveball, and shows feel for the changeup. Callan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
