01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Callan is a tall OF/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during the Pre-Season All-America Tournament. In the field, Callan shows active footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is quick and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance with center balance. He gets into his load well and works through a level swing with fast bat speed, producing strong contact. On the mound, Callan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 83mph. Breaking ball sits from 68-70mph. Changeup sits from 72-74mph. Overall, Callan is a talented prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/01/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Reno, NV Callan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as moves well laterally and covers ground. Throws are accurate with on line carry (87 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through a tall, squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 83 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Slider is harder with tight spin and short break. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches.

09/23/2020 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Callan is a coachable OF/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during the Arizona Fall Classic. In the field, Callan shows smooth footwork with great first step quickness. He gets into position on time and fields ground balls with soft hands. He gets rid of the ball quickly and makes accurate throws to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a centered stride. He is controlled getting his hands activated in his load and remains centered in his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid line drives to all fields. On the mound, Callan gathers over the rubber and shows fluid hand separation. He works with a loose arm and accelerates through his release. Callan operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits at 68mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits at 71mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Callan is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Callan is a tall and lean SS/RHP that will graduate in 2023. Callan shows smooth footwork at SS, working to take good angles to the ball. He can improve his range by becoming faster and more agile. He fields the ball with a confident glove and makes clean exchanges as he works to throw. He gets rid of the ball with a quick arm action delivering strong and accurate throws around the diamond. At the plate, Callan sets up in a square stance with comfortable hands getting a short stride. He works hard to get the barrel on plane and make contact to all fields. On the mound, Callan shows a 3-pitch mix with a FB, SL, and CH. The FB is 75-78 with some sink, the SL is 11-5 with medium break, and the CH is deceptive with FB arm speed. He shows confidence on the mound starting with simple movements as he gathers over the rubber. He separates his hands on time with a clean arm action. As he strides down the mound, he gets a controlled landing and accelerates his arm getting good extension as he rotates to finish. Callan shows a solid foundation as a 2023 and will continue to grow and develop over the next few years.

09/01/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - San Francisco, CA Callan is an athletic and talented 2023 2-way prospect. At SS, Callan is o time with his prep step, he has a good first step to the ball, and create good angles. He plays through the ball and throws from multiple arm slots. He has good feeds on double plays and has a clean exchange. At the plate, Callan starts in a tall stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He gets balanced at contact, hits off a frim front side, and has a high finish. He keeps the barrel inside the ball and looks to drive the ball to all fields. On the bump, Callan gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and rides his back hip toward the plate. He has a firm glove tuck and extends over the front side. He has slight movement on his fastball, he has a medium break on his curveball, and shows feel for the changeup. Callan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
