12/27/2017 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Cameron continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a bright future on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. At the plate is where he has improved the most through a tall / open setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.15 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength. He shows a solid setup and soft glove action, sticking balls in the zone well. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 68-69 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, close to fastball velocity. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and through strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

07/17/2017 - College PREP - Minneapolis, MN Cameron is an athletic C/OF who will graduate on 2019. Behind the plate, hands / feet work well together through a clean transfer / exchange in getting rid of the baseball. Pop times show a range of 2.12-2.43 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft and he tracks balls well through the receiving process but needs to improve flexibility. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs instruction and further develop to improve grade. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls but will benefit by playing through more with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate he shows a crouched setup with rhythm. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Cameron has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
