06/17/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Cameron is a strong 1B prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Omaha National World Series. In the field, Cameron shows active footwork and presents his glove out front to field. He has a quick release and allows his throws to remain accurate and carry through his target. Cameron can improve as a 1B by improving his footwork around the bag. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He is smooth getting into his load and comes through the zone well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing to the ball with fast bat speed which leads to hard contact and great power to his pull side. Cameron can improve as a hitter by keeping his top hand on the bat throughout his entire swing. Overall, Cameron is a talented athlete who has the skill-set that will translate well into the next level.

03/26/2017 - College PREP - Kentfield (San Francisco), CA Cameron is a strong LHH 1B who has power at the plate. Offensively, this lefty stands in with an athletic setup and rhythm in his hands. He gets loaded, swings against a firm front side and creates good extension through contact. He barrels the ball up and drives it gap to gap. At 1B, Appling shows active footwork and hustles into a square fielding position. He moves well around the bag and adjusts to throws up and down the line. Cameron is a solid 1B who has upside with the tools that will translate well into the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
