02/07/2016 - College PREP - San Diego, CA Cameron showed exceptionally well with the glove in his most recent Baseball Factory outing. In the OF, he worked efficiently to the baseball and was sure with the glove to field. He worked with good momentum to catch and throw and flashed present carry to his targets. He got good jumps on the ball off the bat and took good angles with his 6.99 sixty speed. Offensively, he had decent rhythm to hit with a direct path to contact. He rotated his core to help boost his bat speed and he kept his head quiet through the swing to enhance barrel accuracy. Overall - Cameron is a very promising ball player that has shown an upward trend of growth from event to event with Baseball Factory and should have a strong senior spring season.

01/25/2015 - College PREP - San Diego, CA Cameron is a R/R OF who moves well defensively. In the OF, he takes a quick first step working lightly on the balls of his feet. He takes good routes/angles to work into position behind the fly-ball. He secures the ball with 2 hands, plays through it well and has a clean exchange to throw. With the bat, this RHH has a middle of the field approach with good balance. He swings on a level path, hits line drives and extends through his finish. Utilizing more of his lower 1/2 to generate torque will help to increase pop off of his barrel. A 2016 grad - Cameron has skills with still a year to develop.

06/27/2013 - California Select Training & Competition Cameron is an OF with a projectable build. Defensively, he is a hard worker and is willing to make adjustments, showing good aptitude with his athleticism. He makes routine plays and has good glove action. At the dish, he has loose hands and a line-drive approach. He works the entire field with a quiet head and fluid rhythm. With greater concentrated work defensively, along with physical maturity - Ashurst should make himself into a solid college prospect.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
